The Dunbarton Sobremesa is the brainchild of Steve Saka, Drew Estate’s former CEO and the blending genius behind the acclaimed Liga Privada range of cigars. Steve left Drew Estate in 2013, determined to create cigars that were blended without compromise, and came up with the Sobremesa, launched in 2015 to massive critical acclaim.
The Sobremesa features an Ecuador La Meca Habano Rosado wrapper, a Mexican Matacapan Negro de Temporal binder, and five different filler leaves: Gk Condega C-SG Seco, Pueblo Nuevo Criollo Viso, La Joya Esteli C-98 Viso and ASP Esteli Hybrid Ligero, all from Nicaragua, as well as USA Lancaster County Broadleaf Ligero. The result is a superbly complex, balanced and slow-burning full-bodied cigar with a sweet lingering finish.

The Dunbarton Sobremesa is all about balance and complexity. There isn’t room on this page to describe all of its remarkable flavour notes and transitions, so let’s just say that if full-bodied cigars are your thing you will love it. If they aren’t, eat a hearty meal and try it anyway. As the Katman says in his review, the Sobremesa “is about as perfect as a cigar can be. I have no criticisms. I will be rating this cigar the highest I’ve ever done.”
Note: Steve Saka describes this cigar as a “Short Robusto” on the cellophane label. We have described it as a “robusto”, which it is, to avoid confusion with cigars of 4.5 inches length or less.
